Gancho Karabadzakov was born in Yambol in 1951. He graduated from the Art School in Kazanlak in 1972. Two years later he enrolled at the Art Academy, where he studied "Illustration and Artistic Book Design" in the class of Prof. Hristo Neykov. Although he has graduated from the specialty of illustration, Karabadzakov has previously been a painter. His work is known in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Austria, Belgium, USA, Turkey, Greece. In 1982, Karabadzakov became a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. He has over fifty solo exhibitions in the country and abroad. The artist enters for a short time in politics as well. In 2001 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Culture in the National Movement for Stability and Progress. Since November 2011 Gancho Karabadjakov is Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo and is responsible fortheculture, education and social activities.
