Opening: 20 September 2018, 6:30 PM, Hall 2 of Largo Art Gallery
On 20th of September, 2018 at 6:30 PM in Hall 2 of Largo Art Gallery a solo exhibition of graphics of the Ukrainian artist Konstantin Antioukhin will be opened. The exhibition is called "Metamorphoses" and consists of thirty-three artworks in the field of graphics, seventeen of which are exlibris. The event is part of the accompanying program of the third edition of the International ExLibris Competition Varna, and Konstantin for a second consecutive edition is a member of the jury.
The subject of metamorphosis is a favorite one for many creative souls, as the concept allows each artist to present their own interpretation, different from any other. Konstantin's version of it is interpreted in the work "Metamorphoses", which gives the title of the exhibition. In it with a fine, precise line and extraordinary mastery, he depicts the process of the tadpoles transforming into a frog, the frog into a woman, the woman into a goddess. An artwork filled with symbolism, provoking the viewer to look, discover and unravel. This flow of inspiration has spread to the other artworks in the exhibition, where we will find many transformations and changes not only of one being to another, but also of one idea of the author to another. His piece "Latimeria Menadoensis", for example, on first glance appears to fit within what we know and we are used to - the image of a wonderfully etched fish. But in fact, we quickly notice the changes in the subject of the artwork: the fins trippingly turn into human hands with fingers, the shiny scales are transformed into human eyes, some of which transform into faces. The works of the Ukrainian graphic artist Konstantin Antioukhin will surprise the Bulgarian audience with the variety of themes and their ability to engage the viewer, focusing him on the details, symbolism and imagination of the artist. His works are full of legends, mysteries, stories and myths. They tell many tales that grab the viewer's attention, making him want to unravel any secrets that could hide in his artworks.
